We’re a team of founders pioneering solutions to design and build human-centered communities around the world. New Story is headquartered in San Francisco and we also have a team in Atlanta. Since starting about 4 years ago, we’ve raised over $20M, and have funded 2,000+ homes in 16 communities around the world. Our journey has taken us through Y Combinator to being named one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies in the World, and now to creating the first ever 3D home printer designed to work where homes are needed most. About The Role:
As New Story enters our fifth year as an organization, we’re more committed than ever to developing the hardware, software, and processes that, once validated in our communities, will be shared to influence the global social housing sector.
From mobile apps to the worlds first 3D printed community, our projects span in complexity, size, and budgets. To do this well, we need a world-class project manager to help keep our internal teams on track and racing ahead to complete meaningful work.
You’re highly process driven: You thrive in creating systems and processes to improve deliverables. Professionally and personally, you’re always looking for the way to optimize your work.
You’re detail-oriented: More than just being organized, you understand the nuance in details and how tradeoffs of time and focus can drastically impact work.
You can lead teams: Our project manager will work closely with our Tech & Brand teams to lead their projects. As such, you should be comfortable leading meetings, asking questions, and getting your hands dirty with others even when you aren’t the specialist in the room.
You’re self-starting and independent: Starting has never been a problem for you and routinely you help others get moving on their ideas. Our project manager will work independently across departments to keep our teams moving and ensure project success.
You’re a life-long learner: We don’t expect you to onboard with perfect understanding of technical projects, but we do expect you to be a hungry learner. You’re excited about new challenges and want to learn the ins and outs of our work to help lead our teams well.
- Manage workflow, budgets, and timelines for approximately 8-10 projects at a time across multiple teams.
- Solve problems and remove obstacles for project success.
- Vet & manage external vendors for necessary components of projects.
- Develop project-based roadmaps and sprints to manage traffic for multiple projects at once.
- Execute daily/weekly meetings with teams to keep a pulse on project success.
- Communicate with key stakeholders on project progress.

- Demonstrated experience in process implementation & improvement
- Proven track record of working well in a collaborative team setting
- 3+ years of relevant professional work experience
- Experience managing or participating in projects from a software and/or brand perspective
- Functional understanding of software development and/or design
- Fluency in Spanish
- International development background
- Proven curiosity or focus on creating impactful and inclusive social change
